Herr von Bethmann-Hollweg, the Chancellor, speaking at an agricultural banquet, said that Germany / was compelled this year to strengthen hep land armament. The effort demands sacrifices, but, ho added, “God ha® appointed the Germans a place on the globe and so arranged Germany’s history that great sacrifices are our heavy lot.”
