BUSH FIRES

EXTENSIVE DAMAGE REPORTED. Press Association. AUCKLAND, February 11. Extensive bush fires are reported from all parts of the province. In places fires have been responsible for much damage. Settlers in certain directions have had hard work to save their homes. Areas of grass and flax have been destroyed. The presence of fires in the near vicinity is shown by a heavy haze which has enveloped Auckland during the past few days. Early this morning the smoke was so thick that the ferry boats disappeared as if in fog.
