MR FISHER’S TOUR
MIXED RECEPTION AT WESTPORT. Special to the “ Times.” WESTPORT, February 6. Tho Hon. F.M.B. Fisher addressed a moderate sized meeting at Westport, and had a mixed reception.* He spoke on the same lines as in his previous speeches on the Coast. During the address he was asked what tho present Government had done, and replied:* “Nothing yet.” Then he was asked: “What will you do?” and replied: “Wait and seel" Mr Fisher also said he was in favour of State-owned steamers, and that Cabinet had not authorised Mr Allen to offer an expeditionary force of 8000 men for service abroad, and thought Mr Alien had too much sense to make such an offer. Mr J. Colvin, M.P., was present, and was accorded a great ovation. It is generally considered the Tory Reformers have gained no ground here.
