AMERICAN TARIFF
PROTESTS AGAINST FREE LIST BILL. WASHINGTON, February 2, Farmers are pretesting against the Democratic Free List Bill on the ground that the inclusion of cereals, meats, and other foodstuffs will give the Canadians more advantages than the defunct Reciprocity Bill. President Wilson insists on the passage of the Bill. •Mr O. W. Underwood pointed out the Free List Measure was defeated last session in Congress. President Wilson says that the Congress Democrats will break faith with the people if they do not take steps to reduce the cost of living. Canadian press comment indicates that Canada will thus gain as many advantages as if the Reciprocity Bill was passed, whilst giving nothing in return.
