SUICIDE
DIVINITY STUDENT SHOOTS HEMSELF. Press Association. DUNEDIN, February 3. Richard Goff, a divinity student, committed suicide at Roxburgh yesterday by shooting himself. It appears that Goff struck his head against a rock while bathing about five weeks ago, and it is thought by tho doctor who attended him that this may have affected his mind. Deceased was relieving the Rev. Mr Chandler, who is absent on leave. He was twenty-two years of age. His parents reside in New South Wales. .Most of those who knew deceased incline to the belief that worry was the cause of his committing suicide, having noticed that he was nervously anxious about his clerical duties and distrustful of his own efforts. The weapon used did not belong to deceased, who found it in the manse. The congregation had assembled for the morning service before Mr Goff’s death was discovered.
