MINING TROUBLES

DEPUTATION TO MINISTER 0F LABOUR. SYDNEY, January 31. The Pelawmain mine is again idle. The Newcastle Labour Council supports tho Burwood Wheelers’ and Colliery Employees’ Federation. The Newcastle Labour Council sent a deputation to Mr Carmichael, the Labour Minister, regarding the Burwood trouble. He agreed that the men should bo recommended to resume under the conditions required by tho manager, whereupon tho question in dispute, namely, the time of starting, would bo referred to Judge Scholes for immediate investigation; the other matters to bo referred to the general tribunal subsequently. Mr Carmichael soys he is hopeful the recommendation will he accepted.
