FALSE PRETENCES
CHARGE AGAINST ENGLISHMAN IN JAPAN. (Received January 31, 2.30 p.m.) TO'KIO, January 30Wheeler, the representative of the Gems and Wheeler Company who was arrested and put in gaol in Yokohama, has been charged with obtaining money by false pretences. A cable message yesterday stated that Wheeler obtained so many orders for knitting machines that deliveries were behindhand. Bail and legal advice were refused him.;
