At a private gathering of citizens in the Masonic Hotel, Napier, on Wednesday, Mr F. Moeller was the recipient of a pretty little compliment from several friends. Mr A. McCarthy presided and (says the “Telegraph”) voiced the general feeling of pleasure at Mr Moeller’s return home after his adventurous tripon the briny. He then presented Mr Moeller with a beautifully made lifebelt in gold engraved, “Our Frank returned home from sea, 27-1-13.” On the reverse side was the laconic inscription “6 a.m.” In making the presentation the chairman said he hoped that the gift would remind Mr Moeller of his famous trip and, if need be, serve a useful purpose in the future. In responding Mr Moeller said the party felt like heroes, but he could say that classification was not deserved when the pain and anxiety they caused those on shore were considered. .However, ho was pleased to add that the most disappointed amongst the citizens yrero the undertakers!
