“CAPPING” CEREMONY SUSPENDED. Press Association. AUCKLAND, January 24. An example has been mado of tho Auckland University College students as a warning to the general community of under-graduates against the disturbance of “capping” ceremonies by traditional methods of singing, interruping speakers, and more objectionable; demonstrations. On Wednesday the senate declined to impose any general penalty upon the four colleges, but today by 16 votes to 4 it adopted the advice of the Professorial Board of Auckland College and resolved to suspend the ceremony in connection with the college for one year on account of incidents which occurred during tho last ceremony in the Town Hall. Tho diplomas of this year will accordingly bo forwarded by post to each graduate, and degrees will be conferred by the chancellor in session of the senate.
