THE MANAWATU TRADE.

TO THE EDITOR OF THE NEW ZEALAND TIMES.

SIR, —A local in this morning’s issue of your paper draws attention to a paragraph copied from the Manawatu Herald, re a number of “ lines” arriving at Foxton from Lyttelton, and the quantity of timber being shipped from the former port, and you head it by asking “What are our local merchants thinking about 3” It is a question easily answered—“ their own business”—and you may rest assured they are quite aware of all that goes in and out of Foxton, and the nature of the “number of lines.” —Yours truly, Merchant. 17th July, 1879.
