RESIDENT MAGISTRATE’S COURT.
Thursday, July 17. (Before T. Mansford, Esq., R.M.) DRUNKENNESS. Mary Ryan, alias Mclntyre, was charged with being drunk. The prisoner, a respectable looking woman, said she had come in from the country, and had a couple of glasses of beer, which had been too much for her. As she had been locked up all night she was now discharged. LARCENY. William St. George was charged with stealing a bottle of gin, value 4s„ the property of A. Cimino, of the Central Hotel. Prisoner said be was drunk at the time, and did not know anything at all about it. Prosecutor deposed to finding the property in question under the prisoner’s coat in the bar of the hotel. Further evidence having been given, prisoner was sent to gaol for a month. ASSAULT. James Reed was charged with assaulting Edward Dove. The Magistrate said that as the complainant had some little hesitancy about going on with the case, the police would lay a fresh information, returnable on Friday, as they were of opinion that the matter was one which ought to come before the Court.
