KARORI-MAKARA HIGHWAY BOARD.
This Board met on Saturday. Present— Messrs. Graliam (chairman), Bowler, Cook, Finnimore, and Page. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. No notice having been taken of the warning issued by the Board in reference to the nuisance caused by pigs running at large, it was decided to appoint Mr. Robinson as ranger for the district, with full powers to take summary proceedings, and in the event of the pigs not being claimed to hove them destroyed, A letter was received from Mr. E. Beere relative to the Pilot Station-road. The clerk was instructed to forward a cheque for £3O. Mr. Crawford having written with regard to grants in aid of Watts Peninsula, the clerk was instructed to prepare a statement of the rates and expenditure in that district, and forward same to Mr. Crawford. The clerk was instructed to write to Messrs. Brandon and Son and ask what advance had been made in the proceedings re nuisance caused by Toohill’s boiling-down establishment. Resolved, that in future sales of disused roads the valuation made by the assessor be submitted for the approval of the Board before being forwarded to the County Council, and that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the County Council. Sundry accounts to the amount of £B3 is. 2d. were passed for payment.
