RESIDENT MAGISTRATE’S COURT.
Saturday, October 5. •’ (Before T. A. M.ansford, Esq., R.M.) DRUNKENNESS. Three inebriates, for being drunk, were eaoli fined 205., or in default twenty-four hours’ imprisonment. . ' LAMENT. Samuel Salmond was charged on the, in formation of lliohard Smith with stealing two tins of varnish, one mortice-look, fifty pieces of paper, one colonial oven, one tape measure, and other building material. Accused pleaded not guilty. Sergeant Smith asked for a remand, but his Worship said he would require to hear some evide ice first. Detective Smart, sworn, said that he visited the premises of the accused on Friday, in Nairn-street, and that he found the articles produced there, which had becu identified by the prosecutor as hia property., The complainant, Richard Smith, said that he could identify the property produced as his. His Worship then remanded the case until Tuesday. Bail was allowed as follows : Accused, in £25, and two sureties in £lO each. !. ' ASSAULT. Augustus Hefbon, a German, was charged on remand with assaulting a cabman named J. Clancoy. • ■The case was fully proved, and hia Worship fined defendant 20s. and coats, or seven, days’ imprisonment.
