BY TELEGRAPH. AUCKLAND. Friday. Arrived : The R.M.S. Australia, with the English mail, at 5.45 this morning. The Wanaka leaves with the Southern portion of the mail at. 3 p.m. The Australia left Auckland on the 26th of September, and arrived at Honolulu on the Sth of October ; left there on the Oth. and arrived at San Francisco earl j on the 17th, twenty-one days eleven hours from Auckland. Had the mails transhipped to the company’s tug*stearaer and taken to Oaklands, and transferred to a special train which left Oaklands at 11 a.m.: caught the overland mail train at Sacramento at 3 p.m. The mails arrived at New York in time for the steamer leaving there on the 24th of October for Liverpool, arriving in London on the 2nd of November, six days before due date. The mails were delivered in London thirty-seven days from Auckland, and forty days from Wellington. The Australia sailed from San Francisco on the 7th of November, and arrived at Honolulu on the 17th ; left on the 18th, and arrived at Auckland as above, twenty days and twenty-two hours from San Francisco. PORT CHALMERS. Friday. Sailed : The Alhambra for Wellington. Passengers—Saloon : For Wellington Mi.-a Swanwick, Messrs. Robertson, Waters and son. ENGLISH SHIPPING. (per press agency ) Sailed : The Rialto from Gravesend, on the 6th of October, for Wellington. Arrived off Scilly on the 2nd of October, the ship Carnatic; at the Lizard on the sth of October, the Chaudiere. The p.s. Lyttelton with a cargo of wool from Blenheim, arrived in port yesterday evening. She will sail for Blenheim and Nelson this evening. The N.W. wind of yesterday prevented the ship Waitara from being berthed at the wharf. She will come up as soon as practicable, and commence discharging without delay. The Wairoa was taken up on the Patent Slip on Thursday last. The s.s. Tui spoke the Isabella whaler of this port in the Strait yesterday afternoon. The departure of the p.s. Manawatu for Wanganui has been postponed till to-day at noon. The p.s. Luna left Greyraoutb at 4 p.m. on Thursday bst for this port, and should arrive here this morning. , , The p.s. Charles Edward from Nelson with a large cargo of wool and fruit, arrived in port at 9 a.m. yesterday. She left there at 9.15 p.m. the previous day, and had a strong N.W. wind across the Strait, with thick fog, to Jackson Head. Most of the wool which she brought is for the Orari. The s.s. Alhambra from Melbourne, via the South, will be here to-morrow morning. The Jane Douglas from Boston and Wanganui will also be here same dav. Tiie s.s. Hawea, Captain Wheeler, arrived alongside the wharf at 8.30 a.m. yesterday from the North. She left Onehunga at 1.30 p.m. on the 27th ultimo, and reached New Plymouth next morning at 5.30; sailed at 9.30, and arrived at Nelson at 12 o'clock same night: left at 2.15 p.m. on the 29th, and reached Picton at 11 p.m.: was away again at 3 a.m. yesterday, and arrived here as above. Moderate weather was experienced throughout. She sailed for the South at C p.m. yesterday. The s.s. St. Kilda from the South arrived in port yesterday morning after a long trip from Lyttelton. She brought a full cargo. 100 tons of which is for this port, and the balance for Wanganui. She left Dunedin on Sunday morning last at 4 o’clock,, and arrived at Camara at noon same day : left there at 5 p.m. on Mondav, and arrived at Lyttelton at 5 p.m on Tuesday; left again at sp.m. on Wednesday, and arrived here as above stated. She encountered strong head , winds throughout the passage. The St. Kilda sailed for Wanganui last evening. The s.s. Tui arrived in port from the South at 10 o'clock last night. She left Lyttelton at 6 p.m. on the 29th ultimo, and arrived at Kaikoura at 5 a.m. on the 30th. Sailed again at 11 a.m.. called in at Waipapa, and arrived here as above stated. Experienced light S.E. winds up, and on arrival off the Heads encountered very thick weather, consequently considerable difficulty was experienced in picking up the lights which mark the entrance, and the vessel had to proceed from the Heads till arrival at the wharf under easy steam. The Tui is expected to sail fo Foxton to-day.
