The import trade of the past week has shown little animation, and sales are restricted to retail wants for the moment. We report no change in quotations calling for comment. Candles are more in demand, as are also cornsacks, and sales of the former arc/oported ut 9Jd per lb to arrive, and of the latter ITs per dozen *, stocks in both cases light. Adelaide flour is quoted at £l7 per ton, with a drooping market, owing to the luv price at port of shipment. Cohoii.J. produce continues overstocked. Bacon and hams are in better demand, rind prime quality sells a* Bd and 9d per lb. Butter in kegs, no inquiry. Cheese overstocked, and unsaleable at 7d per lb, Flour market unsteady, and sales of Dunedin brands are reported at £l3 15s per ton. Holders are asking £IJ to £ls per ton for Canterbury and Oamaru mills ; but there is little doubt that prices must further give
way Grain—oats are in improved demand, and firm at 3s Oci per bushel; and as prices have made a considerable advance in the Australian colonics, we may look for higher rates hero, as stocks are light and the dry season portends short crops. Air G Thomas reports produce prices as follows : —Flour, Adelaide, £lB ; colonial, £l4 10s to £ls 10s; oats 3s 10s ; bran, Is; wheat,-4s Hd ; hams, S.J-il ; bacon, Sd ; cheese, 7il ; 'potatoes, £2; pollard, £7 ; maize, 4s Cd to 4s 9d ; butter, Od to 7d. BY TELEGRAPH. OAMARU, Friday. The weather is very dry, and unless rain comes soon largo areas of cereal crops will be seriously injured. , The grain and breadstuffs markets are quiet. Quotations are as follow:—Wheat, 4s lOd to 5s '3d per bushel; oats. 2s fld to 3s per bushel; barley, none ; flour, £ls to £ls 10s per ton; oatmeal, £l7 per ton ; pollard, £5 5s per ton ; bran, £3 5s per ton. DUNEDIN, Friday. Mr. Goldsbrough telegraphs from Melbourne The wool sales ate brisk. Up to date 55.000 bales have been sold. Greasy wools brought 8d to lujd ; clean washed, up to 30|jii.
