SWIMMING MATCHES.

The swimming matches in connection with, the Wellington: Athletic Club took .‘place; as advertised, at the Tho'mddh baths oh Saturday afternoon. The' weather was beautifully, fine, and the water smooth. There was a very good attendance, a,number of ladies being present. Competitors dressed on the old Bambler, which was moored outside the fence on the sea side,' opposite the .platform, from which a spring-board was run out. Mr. Gair-fondly acted as judge, and performed the duties of that office most efficiently., , The first event on the programme was a Bovs* Bace (under 16), 75 Yards.-First Prize, 20s. : ' Second Prize, ss.
