WELLINGTON COLLEGE AND THE CAMBRIDGE LOCAL EXAMINATIONS.
TO THE EDITOR OE THE NEW ZEALAND TIMES. Sir, —As several persons who have spoken to me on the above subject have been evidently misled by the leader in your issue of this date,, will you kindly allow me space to explain that the twenty-four candidates (not twenty-two, as stated by you) who passed in these examinations, were from the whole of the British colonies, or at least from such of them as chose to embrace the opportunity afforded them by the Cambrige authorities. From the Wellington College eight candidates went up, of whom six were'successful,, viz., two in the senior and four in the junior examination, while of the other eighteen successful candidates eleven were from Trinidad, five from Mauritius, one from Te Aro Grammar School (Mr. Curtis’s), and one young lady from Miss Greenwood’s school.—l am, &c., Charles C. Graham, Secretary Wellington College. Office of Education Board, Wellington, 23rd August.
