RIFLE MATCH.

The second and final competition for Captain Pearce's prizes came off on Saturday last at the Pollhill Gully range. The firing, as on the former occasion—with the exception of the winning scores—was indifferent, although a number of good and :\vcll-tried shots were engaged in the contest. The Ist prize was carried off by Sub-Lieutenant Scott, of the City Rifles, who succeeded in hoading the list in both "competitions, making respectively 50 and 52, or an aggregate of 102 points out of a possible 120. The second prize fell to Bandsman Bannister, of the Artillery, with a total of 89 points. Tho ranges fired at in both competitions were 200, 300, and 400 yards ; standing at the first range, and any position at tho two latter ; targets at 200 and 300 yards thirdclass, 400 yards second class, At the conclusion of tho firing the prizes, consisting of a very handsome carriage clock and the sum of three'guineaß, were'presented to the successful competitors by Mrs. Puarce,

who congratulated Sub-LieuteDant Scott and Bandsman Bannister on their success. Three cheers for the winners, Captain Pearce, and Mrs. Pearce, closed the proceedings. The following is a list of the scores made in each of the competitions:—
