New Zealand Spectator, AND COOK'S STRAIT GUARDIAN. Saturday, January 13, 1849.

The Adelaide arrived yesterday from Auckland after a passage of twelve days. The latest Auckland papers received are to the 30th inst. They contain no news; our friends at the North appear to be quietly

progressing, and the natives to be wholly engaged in peaceful pursuits. The August mail had not yet arrived at Auckland from Sydney, the post-office packet for August being, a notoriously dull sailer. We may therefore expect the' August and September mails by the next arrival from Sydney.
