Before H. St. Hill, Esq., Resident Magistrate, and the following Magistrates : — A. E. M'Donogh, F. D. Bell, J. Kelham, A. Hort, and W. Hickson, Esquires.

The Queen v. Beit. — This was an information at the instance of George Edwards, a tide-waiter in H. M. Customs (by direction of the Collector of Customs), against Mr. J. N. Beit, a passenger in the brig Susan, for assaulting the said George Edwards, he being at the time in the execution of .his duty as an officer of Customs on board the tame brig. The case was referred for trial at the next Sittings of the Supreme Court.

The Queen v. Addams. — This was an information at the instance of W. Mills, a tidewaiter in H. M. Customs (by direction of the Collector of Customs), against John Addams, master of the brig Bee, for refusing and neglecting to find the officer of Customs the accommodation provided by law on board his vessel. The case was proved against the defendant, who became liable to a penalty of twenty pounds ; but, with the acquiescence of the Collector of Customs, the fine was, in this instance, not enforced ; the Bench having reprimanded Addams, and strongly impressed upon him the duty of strictly complying, in future, with the Customs' laws and regulations with regard to the accommodation of officers.
