SYDNEY.
His Excellency the Governor has appointed Fiaucis Robert Chester Master, Esq., Ensign in H.M. 58th Regiment, to be his Excellency's Colonial Aide-de-Camp. — Sydney Mottling Herald. We believe we may state, with perfect confidence, that her Majesty has approved of the, immediate separation of Fort Phillip from New South Wales. The former province is to be designated Victoria, and Mr. E. Deas Thomson, there is no doubt, will be the first Lieutenant Governor of the territory so surrendered. Private letters have been received in town, which leave very little doubt that her Majesty's ship Auckland has been wrecked. This vessel was engaged in endeavouring to carry out Lord Stanley's project of finding a site for a penal settlement, to the north of Port Essiugton. A site was discovered, but it was completely without water, and was so infested with musquitoes as to be actually uninhabitable. It was on her return to announce this hopeful discovery that the Auckland went upon the rocks.
