SOUTH AUSTRALIA. [From the Australian, July 3rd.]
We aie in receipt of Adelaide papers to the 19th ultimo, inclusive, which arrived yesterday by the Joseph Albino. The Legislative Council was to meet for the despatch of business on the 25th June. The Observer of the 12th, thus records the arrival otan overland pa'ty iroro NeveSdu,th Wales: — "Mr. Pa.rick Devlin arrived overland from New South Wales on Wednesday last, with 600 head of cattle and 40 horses, He left Sydney in February and has been travelling three mouths since he left the Murrumbidgee. The blacks in the neighbourhood of the Darling were numerous and troublesome, but on show of their firearms and an exhibition of the strength of h.s party (tea in number) the blacks oecame subservient, and assisted to cross the drays, one ot which they ha.l previously threatened to steal. Mr. Devlin reports another overland party to be en route, and more than one in preparation ; but very candidly, as we think, predicts that the prices realised here will not be such as to encourage a succession of overland parties, st. ck hi New *South Wales having increased in value, whilst prices here have gone down. Mr. Devlin confirms the statements of his predecessors, namely, that it is possible to perform tl c overland journey, so as to make a station every night."
