English Shipping. The Mayflower was to sail from England for New Zealand, March 31.
Sydney Shipping. Arrived— July 12. The Brig Sir John Byng, 168 tons, Forbes, hence 20th June. July 16. Barque Sunflower, 341 tons, Forrester, from Auckland 29th June. July 16. H. M. S. RatWsnake, 28 guns, Captain Owen Stanley, from Plymouth the 11th and Madeira the 26th December, Rio Janeiro 23rd Jauuary, Cape of Good Hope the 10th April. Mauritius the 17th May, and Hobart Town the Bth instant. Passengers — Captain Charles Stanley, R. E., and lady, Mr. King, and Mr. Gregson. The Ship Thomas King was advertized to sail for Auckland the end of July.
The " John Fleming."— This Tessel, which arrived early this morning from London, is the Post Office packet for April, and has made a fair passage of one hundred and fourteen days. She was detained, however, twelve days in the English Channel, and during the fir->t part of the voyage experienced very light and baffling winds, but from the Cape of Good Hope she has had an excellent run of thirty five days. Her mail consists of thirty- three bags, the usual size. She has not spoke «fly vessels, connected with these colonies on the passage' out. S.M.H., July 26.
H.M.S. " Rattlesnake."— This vessel which arrived yesterday morning from England, having touched at several ports on her passage, for the purpose of landing specie, has been fitted out for the purpose of completing the survey of the coasts of New Holland- and New Guinea, which is expected to occupy her the next five years. She is commanded by C aptain Owen Stanley, an officer well knonn in these colonies, having commanded H. M. B. Britomart on this- station, for about three years. Captain Stanley has orders from the Admiralty to pay off the schooners Bramble and Castlrreagh^&nd recommission them as tenders to the Katlletnake. She has onboard £4000 in specie ' for the Commissariat department of this colony. 'At the Cape of Good Hope she landed £50,000 ; at the Man itius £15,000 ; and at Hobart Town £4000.* Capt. Charles Stanley R. E., who has arriv^djio. Sydney by the Rattletnake, is a brother to Captain Owen Stanley : he is Private Secretary to Lieutenant Governor Denison, at Van Diemen's Land. Mr. King, another passenger, is a son of Captain King, of Port Stephens, and has returned from England, after completing hi* education at Cambridge, for the purpose of being ordained as a clergyman of the Church of England. It is expected that the Rattletnake will remain here about two months. We' are informed that the officers surveyed Simon's Bay, and made many Taluable observations on the passage out.
