Commercial Intelligence. [From the " Sydney Herald," June 21.]
Our community is at present as depressed aa it was excited at the first intimation of the gold discoveries. The buyers in the market are very few, but importers have not hitherto evinced an anxiety to effect sales at lower rates than they have been obtaining. Id Sugars and Teas there are- no sales, but no appearauce of decline. Flour has been submitted at « lower rate than 255 ; with heavy parcels of flour here, and more expected, a further decline must be submitted to ere any speculation takes place j eventually when present stocks are cleared off, or taken for speculation, &• considerable advance may be ■expected. We must look for only a very limited supply from the southward, and fiom Valparaiso though several vessels have been seat for flour, very few will bring any back, R. Harnett, Broker. Sydney, June SO.
The transactions in produce during the past week liare been of a very limited extent. In prices we have no alteration to notice, excepting as ivgaida Hided, for which very full rates have been given. The dullness in commercial affairs has continued since our last report, notwithstanding the generally good accounts from the gold fields. .Freights and exchange remain as heretofore. Mort and Brown. Circular Quay, June 20. Our market for wool, sheepsfcins, and hides, continues very steady. Lowerfreights being submitted to during the week for tallow, a corresponding lise in price of from ss. to 10s. per ton may be quoted.
