A BOARDING SCHOOL for the Education of Native Children is about to be opened at the Church Musion Station at Oiawhao, in the District ol the Waikato. It ii propoied, with the sanction or thp Bishop of the Diocese, and of the Committee of the Church Missionary Society, to admit into this School a limited number of Children, the offspring of European fathers and Natire mothers. The large and increasing number of Children of this clan imperatively requires that some provision ihould be made for thru Educa ion. It is with the view of supplying this acknowledged and pressing want that the present undertaking hat been commenced. The object aimed at in the course of instruction that will be pursued, ii to give a good plain English Education, based, at all true Education nuut be, upon sound Religious Teaching, and combined with industrial training, of which spinning, weaving, fitc, will form a part. The School will be under the immediate care and superintendence of the Rev. J. Morgan, the Resident Missionary, who will be responsible for the faithful carrying out of the whole plan. The payment for each scholar is fixed at Five Guineas a year ; & sum which, it is hoped, will biing the benefits of the School within the reach of almost every Parent of such Children. In extraordinary cases of poterty, should any such occur, the annual payment will be reduced to Three Pounds for each Child. Orphans, and those in the position of orphans, will be received and educated gratuitously; the number being limited only by the amount of the School Fund. In order to be enabled to carry out this plan with a prospect of auccess, the Resident Missionary earnestly requests the assistance of all those persona who feel an interest in the welfare of the much neglected Anglo* Maori Race. The following gentlemen have consented to receive Subscriptions and Donations :— The Rer. G. A. Kisiling, and Messrs. Gibson & Mitchell, Auck« land. Subscriptions wiil also be received by the Resident Missionary at Otanhao. Otawhao, Waikato, August lit, 1849.
