SYDNEY, Last Night. After doing light work to-day Windbag picked up a pchble in the off fore-hoof, causing him^to limp as he left the coursc. A veterinarv surgeon examined him and stated that the champion had injured a foreleg and also"* bruised the frog. It will be a day or two probably before the actual extent of dama.ee dnne is known and whether it will affect his Randwick engagements. It is ascertained that the Victorian Doncaster candidate, Manacre, also met with a mishap, returning from a gallop._ He threw the rider and galloped into the rails where he remained suspended till sawn frce. He lost a lot of skin and hair off the stifles. According .to a statement hy Price. his trainer, Windbag's injury is likely to prove more serious than at first thought. and may not only him from fulfilling his autumn
engagements but prevent him from racing again. The injury is to the leg opposite the one which prevented Windbag from fulfilling his engagements last spring, and apparently comes from the horse's attempt to save his wealc leg. Windbag on the previous day did an excellent gallop and showed no sign of soreness. It is stated that the owner and Veterinary Mills examined Windbag and endorsed Price's opinion. Developments during the next few days will be anxiously awaited.
