At the inquest to-day on tho boy Edward Williamson, »n apprentice killed In A. and T. Burl's yard, the evidence showed that the deceased and Duguid, neither of whom had anything to do, or knew anything about it, wera swinging on a crane. John Robinson, another apprentice, turned the handle, and raised them up, when they jumped ofl, and he lowered the chain agmn. When the pair got on again he raised them agiin, when the jib started to come down, nnd the boy* were underneath it. Robinson had txken the paul out of the wheel, Tho jury brought in a verdict of accidental dntb. Ju c> nnection whh the recent address by Mr Bngato, the VictorUn Governin*m viticulturist, it hag been decided to form a Central Otago Vino and Fruit Growers' Association, with the object of promoting the culture of fruit and the Tine.
