(FKOM OIK OWN CORKEM'ONDENT.) The concert in aid of the Library took place on Friday, 19th insb. The attendance was very good, and all the performers acquitted thomselvea well ass waß evinced by the repeated en corei, Tlie Rev. H. C, Frere occupied the chair and diacbarged the duties bhereof in an able and pleasanb manner. Those who took parb io the programme were : Meadames Wilson and Kelly, Misses Sutton, Falconer, Duncan, and Macdonald (accompaniste), and Messrs Ferens, Macgregor, Kenny, Carthy, Gibbs, Graham, and Wright. It i<j unnecessary to epeak of all the items in detail, but the manner in which the Misses Sutton acquib otl themselves in a Scotch reel is worthy of special mention ; their daucing Beemed faultless. Miss Daisy button went through the sailor's hornpipe in excellent ntyle, and both received vociferous encores. The thanks of the committee are Bpecially due to theso young ladjes for having como so far and adding bo materially to the con* cert's Buccess. Special praise is also due to the Mißses Duncan and Falconer, who came from Oamaru to help and who pleased the audience with their &ioging. A well attended dance followed, music being supplied by Mr T. Munro and Mr Wnghb (violins), Mr Orawshaw (piano), and Mr Kenny (clarionet). The music met with general approval. The gross takings amounted to Lll 13a, expenses L 3 43 Bd, leaving a net balance of L8 8a Id, which, with the funds in hand, will enable the com* rnittee to send for LlO worth of books.
