BICYCLE TYRES
WARNING TO DEALERS Wellington, This Day. A warning that non-compliance with the terms of the Bicycle Tyre and Tube Control Notice gazetted' in July might lead to heavy penalties being inflicted was given last night by the Minister of Supply, Mr Sullivan. He said that the notice required that all persons must furnish a return j in writing to the Factory Controller! if they had in their possession any j new tyres or tubes under their con- ! trol, or on order, other than those j affixed to a pedal bicycle. “The fact that the supply held is small makes no difference.” said the Minister. “The terms of tiie notice are ■ clear and definite, and it is necessary that they be complied with. The ; rubber situation is 100 serious for : irifling, and stockists who hold supplies and have not yet furnished the < required return would be well ad- 1 vised to act at once. It is vital to the ■ maintenance of production and then welfare of the country that the re- l ( sponsible authorities should be in possession of full details of the stock i position, and the whereabouts of all i cycle tyres and tubes. ! s “I am issuing this note of warn- - ing for the benefit of stockists and i others to whom the sale of tyres i and tubes is a sideline, and under- £ take to oblige customers because of c the distance from a centre. Any per- ! sons, therefore, who should make a < i return, and who have not vet done ; I so. should forward the necessary in- c j formation at. once.’*-—P.A, t
