HIGH COMMISSIONER’S REPORT The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram, dated 10th instant, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London: — Tallow. —A little more interest shown for shipment. Spot quotations nominally unchanged. Hemp.—Manila market weak under selling pressure and owing to the absence of trade support. “K” grade January-March shipment sold down to 20 ss. Output of Manila last year was 1,289,000 bales, against 1,585,955 for previous year. Stocks m Manila on 31st December, 1930, were 110,000 bales, against 195,000 bales at 31st December, 1929. Stocks in England 11,235 bales, against 9119 Sisal. —Market depressed. First grade afloat sold down to £l7 ss, 2nd grade £l6 10s. At the close there were sellers of good marks January-March shipment first grade £l7 ss. Mexican: Quotations nominally unchanged but pressed for sale at 35s below ruling African prices. New Zealand: Market dull in sympathy. Buyers not interested. Quotations nominally unchanged and no first hand sales reported.
