WEST INDIES V. QUEENSLAND

HOME SIDE FACE HEAVY TASK LOSE FIVE FOR 149 (United Press Association— By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) BRISBANE, 13th January. At the resumption of the match between the West Indies and Queensland this morning Sealey and Grant played carefully and slowly took the West Indies score to 101, when Sealey was struck on the head by a fast ball from Thurlow and was taken to hospital for an X-ray examination. Constantine was most vigorous, particularly after Grant was clean bowled by a beauty from Gilbert. With Birkett and Constantine in the scoring livened up and the total went from 150 to 200 in 20 minutes. The howling was innocuous in the terrific heat. The end of the innings came somewhat dramatically. Constantine was always sparkling and was unlucky lo miss his century, and then Birkett went, being brilliantly caught at point. The other batsmen offered little resistance and the innings closed for 265 at 3.15 o’clock. There were 12,000 present when Queensland opened their second innings. Gough (soon after the start loftily pulled Constantine into Headley’s hands at square leg. Adams was then taken by the wicket-keeper and Brew after an aggressive 25 was brilliantly caught at silly mid-off. Bensted was stumped without scoring and Oxenham was clean bowled. Then half the side was out for 65 when Goodman and Mossop became associated in a stout partnership. At stumps the score was 5 for 149.
