ON THE RANGE On Saturday the sixth shoot in connection with the Motueka Defence Rifle Club’s senior and junior competition for the Hudson and Wills cups was fired under rather trying conditions, the wind and light being particularly troublesome. Results of the respective shoots are as under: —

NEWMAN SHIELD CRICKET MOTUEKA TEAM V. WAIMEA The Motueka team selected to play Waimea at Wakefield on Friday and Saturday, 16th and 17th January, in the Newman Shield competition, is as follows :—L. Sixtus, O. Eggers. L. Heath, J. Clark, H. Smith, J. Parker, W. Whitehorn. E. Ryder, R. Fowler, J. Inglis, R. Bowers; emergencies: S. Barnett, W. Sigglekow and J. Holyoake; umpire and manager, Mr L. Goodall ; scorer, Mr S. Rowling. Any player unable to participate in the match is requested to notify the vice-president, Mr H. H. Smith immediately.
