DRUNK IN CHARGE OF A CAR

A SOLICITOR CONVICTED \ (By Telegraph—Press Association) WELLINGTON, This Day. Fined £25 last July and having his license cancelled for a year, Lionel LeStrange Edwards, a solicitor, came before Mr Page, S.M., to-day and pleaded guilty to being drunk in charge of a car. Yesterday he collided with 'a stationary motor car while proceeding home at 5 o'clock to Island Bay. His counsel, Mr Leicester, said he had two drinks after 4.30 while waiting for his car. The Magistrate remarked that a member of an honourable profession appearing before the Court twice # on such a charge was'more than a disgrace. It was a calamity when one realised the high position defendant's father had held on the Bench of this country. Mr Page imposed a fine of £35 and suspended defendant's license for three years.
