BRITISH COTTON TRADE
FAILURE TO SETTLE DISPUTE (United Press Association— By Usotris Tategraph—Oopyright) (Australian Press Association) LONDON, 28th July. Negotiations in the cotton trade dispute broke down at a late hour last night, despite the efforts of Sir Horace Wilson, Permanent Secretary to the Ministry of Labour. Unless, therefore, there is a surprise development to-day half a million workers will be idle on Monday. (Received 29tli Julv, 11.45 a.m.) LONDON, 28th July. Unless an eleventh hour miracle happens, 1800 Lancashire cotton mills and half a million operatives will be idle tomorrow. Nothing was done to-day to bridge tlie gulf which tlie statements of the two sides show is disastrously wide.
