DEVONSHIRE DISASTER
THIRTEEN FATALITIES (United Pres« Association—By Electrio Telegraph—Copyright' (Australian Press Association) LONDON, 27th July. The Admiralty has issued a list of ilic cruiser Devonshire's casualties. Six of tlie crew were killed, seven died of injuries, and twelve were injured. Practically all are from Plymouth. The accident occurred during exercises off Skiathos, off the eastern coast of Greece. It is understood that an 18-inch gun manned by marines exploded. presumably as a result of misfire or Hare back. The wounded are being placed aboard the hospital ship Maine, in the Gulf of Yolo. SEVENTEENTH DEATH (Received 29th Julv, 12.30 p.m.) LONDON, 28th July. The seventeenth death occurred ns the result of the Devonshire explosion. FUNERAL OF VICTIMS ATHENS, 28th July. The Devonshire landed Hie bodies at Yolo, where the, funeral was impressive and the townspeople rendered homage. Greek and British flags were half-masted. Th e Queen Elizabeth, with Admiral Field, is coming, presumably to hold an inquiry.
