A German shipmaster and steersman were engaged to take a shipload of liquor to California. were tempted by a reward of £13,000 for the surrender of the liquor, and, as a result of the information they' gave, the vessel was seized in American waters. They did not get the reward, however, and. in addition, says the Berlin correspondent of “The Times,” sentences of eight months' imprisonment, for tbp, captain and 12 months for the steersman, for betraying their employers’ interests, have been confirmed by the Leipzig Supreme Court.
