AUSTRALIAN TEAM IN NEW ZEALAND The following are the members Jf the Australian Jiockey team which arrived at Wellington yesterdav: — Manager, Air W. Rothwell (N.S.W.); goalkeepers, C. O'Connor (Queensland), Ji. FJockart (N.S.W.); backs, W. Todkill (N.S.W.), H. Ferguson (Queensland), J. Elliott; halves, W. Grant (N.S.W.), W. Wanless (N.S.W.), E. Coulter (Queensland), E. Pulley (N.S.W.); forwards, H. Corniie (Queensland, vice-captain), C. Cormie (Queensland;, W. Hudson (N.S.W.), S. Stephens (N.S.VV.), L. Fitzpatrick (N.S.W.), W. Nettleton (N.S.W.j, and T. Lee (N.S.W. captain). THE ITINERARY The following is a list of the matches to be played: 18th July—Wairarapa, at Carterton. 20th July—Wellington, at Wellington. 24th July—Dannevirke, at Dannevirke. 27th July—New Zealand, at Wanganui. 31st July—Otago, at Dunedjn. 3rd August—Canterbury, at Christchurch. 7th August—Feilding, at Feilding. 10th August—New Zealand, at Auckland (Test match for Manning Memorial Cup). The Manning Cup is in memory of Bert (Manning; (Wellington), one of the managers of the 1923 team, who took ill in Melbourne and died when the team was on its way home. Australia has not yet held the trophy. New Zealand and Australia have played four tests, with the following results : 1922, at Palmerston North, won by New Zealand, 5-4. 1923, at Sydney, won by New Zealand, 2-1. * 1925, at Wellington, won by New Zealand, 5-1. 1927, at Brisbane, a draw, 3 all. The following team has been selected to represent New Zealand in the first test match against the Australian hockey team, to be played at Wanganui on 27th August: Goal: F. Cowles (Timaru). Backs: L. Spiers (Waipa), T. H. Pickard (Dannevirke). Halves: N. Hansen (Manawatu), B. Morris (Otago), M. Brookes (Geraldine). Right wing: X. Robinson , (Dannevirke). Inside right: K. Pennington (Taranaki). Centre forward : E. L. Heywood (Marlborough). Inside left: W. T. Thrush (Wanganui). Left wing: S. Betts (Taranaki). The emergencies are yet to' be selected.
