Poison (Stratford) gave notice to ask the Minister of Agriculture whether the Government had received any intimation regarding the War Office contracts fo" meat., and whether any steps had been taken to secure a share of the contract for New Zealand. Mr 11. S. S. Kyle (Riccartou) asked the Minister of Agriculture if he would give an assurance that the plant research station was to he established, at Lincoln College. The Minister (the Hon. (!. \V. Forbes) replied that the Department had been discussing the question of acquiring 100 acres of land al Lincoln College for (he purpose of establishing an. experimental area. Xo agreement had vet been reached, however, as to the financial aspect. RELIEF WAGES Replying to a question bv Mr P. Eraser (Wellington Central), who asked if the Prime Minister's notice had been drawn to a. report to- the effect that the Wairau River Board was proposing to pay 9s and 12s a day to relief workers r.i. its employ, despite the fact that it was in receipt of a Government subsidy, Sir Joseph Ward said that he would communicate with the board and ascertain what the. position was. If 9s and 12s a day was paid, despite the Government's subsidy, the Government would not continue that subsidy (Hear linear.) ' '
