PRINCE HUMPHREY'S IDENTITY CLEARED OP

REPORT liV REGISTRAR OK RACEHORSES (United Press Association—By Electrlo Telegraph—Copyright) SYDNEY, 16th July. An investigation by Mr C. Yuille, registrar of racehorses, into the identity of Prince Humphrey, has established the fact that he is a bay gelding, three years old, by Duke Humphrey, imp.— Princess Hazel, imp., branded B under an inverted Y near the shoulder, and £ over 136, now almost invisible, on the near thigh, lie is a bay with black points. The other horse, whose brands were confused, was Cragman, which Air Yuille finds is a bay gelding, three years old, by Duke Humphrey, imp.—Shepherd Princess, branded R under an inverted V near the shoulder, and 5 over 144 near the thigh, with a large star streak and blaze over the left nostril. _ Botli lore pasterns are broken with white, and both hind pasterns are broken with white. Mr Yuille adds that the evidence indicates tint confusion has arisen over the names of the respective dates rather than that the horses had been confused by any similarity of'appearance. The reason may have been because the full brands of (he two horses were omitted from the catalogue of Woodlands dispersal sale. Mr Yuille remarks that had the secretary of the Mew Zealand Racing Confcrlerenco checked the applications for registration of tiie two horses, or had each checked his own application for registration at the time, with the registrar's certificates, the error would then have been apparent. The Australian''Jockey Club Committee to-day approved of the registrar's report. It was decided to call upon Mr Macindoe, the owner of Prii&co Humphrey, to register Prince Humphrey and amend his nomination of that horse for the Epsom, Metropolitan, and the Warwick Farm Spring handicaps, paying 20s fine in each case, otherwise the entries will be declared invalid, together with the costs of inquiry into the horses' identity.

STAR COD INELIGIBLE FOR 810 HANDICAPS The A.J.C. Committee also held that the New Zealand horse Star Cod is ineligible to take part in the Epsom, Metropolitan, and Warwick Farm Spring Handicaps. The rules provide t'hat a horse outside the Commonwealth can be entered without prior registration, but as Star God happened to be in Sydney when nominated, the horse should have been registered beforehand.
