HELPING HAND SHOP. The sausage roll competition at the Helping Hand Shop yesterday caused much interest. There were 22 entries,'* and- the judge (Mr H. Cooper) found it a difficult matter to award the prize, his decision ultimately being given in : favour of Mrs Rob-son, -Haven' Road.' ,The committee are grateful to all those ladies who helped to make the competition! such a success. The Jled Cross Fund benefited to the extent of £2B 2s 6d . yesterday, the expenses of the bejng 6s 6d.. A special effoa-t in connection-■yrit-h the Mayoress's* Flag brought up the amount for the week to £lO 9s; it now totals £54 16s. Contributions were received from Collingwood, Kohatu, Brightwater, H6pe, ■ Richmond, Stoke, Wakapuaka, Atawhai,. ; and the Port, Boys' Central, '..Girls' Centra] (Third Standard), . Hamp.den St'i-eetj Brook Street, and ' Miss- ' "Liglitf dot's Schools, and the city.
