21 ST REINFORCEMENTS
SIX HUNDRED SHORT. .. RiECiRUHTSi NEEDED AT OINiCE. The 21st (Reinforcements, as anticipated, are mobilising seriously short. The total (Dominion ' shortage for the 21st Reinforcements is expected to be fully '6OO, and is wholly accounted for by the fact that men enlisted for the 21st Reinforcements and, passed as fit have failed to paradle when required.. •- The position is far from being satisfactory, says the (Post, and as tfie provisions of the Military Service Act cannot be enforced for some time yet the hope is again expressed that local authorities and citizens will lose no time in trying to get the necessary number of recruits. The men passed as fit and registered for the 21st Reinforcements are specially appealed to to honour their promises, as. if iNew Zealand is to meet its obligations the present establishments must be fully kept up. . The various military districts have been asked' to make good) their shortages '-by Tuesday next.
