I [United Pbe3S Association.] ASHBURTON, Wednes. Information has been received that a team of four horses, valued at about £200, and belonging to the Mt. Possession station, were drowned while endeavouring to rross the upper Ashburton river, which is much swollen with recent ™{£ RTSTCHUT , CHi Thurs . The body of Henry Bennett, a tarmtr, residing at the Styx, was to-day found drowned in a 3ft. wide drain, in which the water was about 3ft. de«p. Ho tie<l a piece of rope round his neck and attached to it was an old plough shear. Deceased left a note stating that he intended committing Euicide. HASTINGS, Thursday. Patrick O'Brien, aged 75 years, was found drowned in the creek at Pakipaki last night. The inquest returned an op?n verdict. INVERCARGIIX, Thurs. Tho police are advised from Clinton that the much decomposed body of an unknown man has been found in the Povnahiika river.
