[United Press Association.] INVERCARGILL, Tuesday. The Rev. Dr Guiseppe Capra, Doctor in Natural and Agricultural Science, who is on an official scientific mission from Italy, arrived by the Melboure boat yesterday. He is just now j in Invercargill, and has spent over four j months in Australia and Tasmania. He . : proposes to tour New Zealand, and his ' t special object Ls to .study the agricultural resources of the colonies for Im- ; migration purposes. He himself (is srrongly opposed to contract immigration, such as was proposed in West Australia not long ago, and anything in the nature of the formation of Italian viillages in these States he is against. His idea is to take back to Italy information that may be of nse in directing free settlers to new lands, so that they mny go abroad and become citizens of their adopted countries. Dr Capra speaks highly of the kiiidTy treatment given him in Australia, and of tho friendly cordiality with which Mr Fisher, the Federal Prime Minister, listened to what he had to say, and who promised to help the stranger. Dr Capra was given every facility for carrying out his work in Australia for carrying out his work in Australia, including the granting of a free pass over the railways.
