CnniSTcnoßcn, Friday. At a public meeting held last night it was resolved to form an amateur Athletic Club for Christchurch. A deputation of the promoters of the Naval Brigade waited on the Premier yesterday and stated that 190 names had been received and asked for free passes on the rail way when on duty. Permission to use the big guns in Lyttleton was also solicited and a supply of small arms, and a drill instructor. The Premier promised to lay the matter before the Government. A heavy rain last night greatly benefited all the crops. The weather is now fine. Donedin, Friday. The Times says that the following Magisterial changes are to take place: Mr Beetham will be. removed from Timaru to Wellington ; Capt. M'llish from Christchurch to Timaru 5 Mr Whitefoord from Kaiapoi to Christchurch; Mr Beswick from Lyttelton to Kaiapoi; Mr Watt to Oamaru ; and Mr Wood to Invercargill.
