MELBOUENe, Thursday. The trial of the Suburban Bank directors began to day. A long opening speech was made for the prosecution, which is being undertaken by the Gevernment. Friday. Sir Charleß Gavan Duffy, Speaker of the Legislative Assembly during the last Parliament, leaves for England by the outgoing Suez mail steamer Assam. Lingard, the actor, has been served with a ■writ at the instance of J. C. Williamson for JC2OOO damages in connection with the performance of " Pinafore " by the Lingard
