The Acclimatisation Society have resolved that the duck shooting season be from April., Ist to July 12, and the pheasant shootingseason from the Ist to the 30fch of June, both days inclusive, and that hares be not shot this season. Dunedin, Friday. The Star is authorised to state that the Union Company takes Volunteers from any port to Nelson and back at single fares. Auckland, Friday. The City Council hag £4000 claims for . compensation. - ; -The Artillery presented a testimonial to Sergt.Major Drill Instructor Hyde who is removed to Wellington. The plans for the new Bank of New South Wales are completed and a large substantial building will be erected in Queen-street. The prejudice against the French Communists is so great that householders refuse to let houses to them. Employers of labor also l«ok with suspicion on them and refuse to employ even the political exiles.
