Sydney, Tuesday. A large fire has occurred at Albury, the Imperial Hotel and Bank of New South Wales being completely destroyed. The attendance at the levee of Lord Lof tvs was unusually large. Melbourne, Tuesday. A football match by electric light was a brilliant success, thousands being present. Arrived— Arawata from the Bluff. Wednesday. The Budget discussion continues. A statement in the Age newspaper this morniug denies that it is' Sir John O'Shannassy's intention to move a vote of want of confidence. Sailed— Tararua for the Bluff Adelaide, Wednesday. The Treasurer has introduced his Financial Statement. The revenue for the last financial year was £1,661,0000, and the expenditure £1,854,000. The chief deficiency was in the Customs Department. The revenue for the current year is estimated at £1,855,000. and the expenditure £2,070,000, leaving an estimated deficit of £254,000, exclusive of the supplementary estimates, which it is proposed to be covered by new rates of sixpence in the pound on incomes derived from interest, threepence in the pound on capital invested in business, and threepence in the pound on incomes exceeding £300 per aunum.
