Stdnev, Thursday. Mr W. 11. Cooper, barrister, has been committed for trial on a charge of assaulting J. U. Heaton, one of the proprietors of the Evening Afews. Bail has been allowed. Sailed: Ship Northampton for Lyttelton, and City of Sydney for Auckland. It is announced that large exhibits in wool will be sent from New Zealand to Sydney to the international exhibition. MELBornNE, Thursday. The Rigarooma is sighted off Cape Scbank. She is expected to reach Melbourne at eight o'clock to-night. Friday. The Marquis of Normanby arrived at eight o'clock last eveniug, and proceeded immediately to Government House, where he was sworn in by the Chief Justice in the presence of Ministers, civic authorities, and others. His Excellency was accorded a most cordial reception.
