CORRESPONDENCE.
MIXED SCHOOLS. To the Editor of the ' Evening Mail.' Sir,— l expected that a better pen than mine would refute the erroneous arguments of your correspondent " Alpha Beta " concerning the pretended advantages of a mixed schools system — that is, of schools in which boys aud girls are taught together ; but it appears that the suggestion was so repulsive on account of its immoral tendencies that nobody thought it worth contradicting, especially as it had been already refuted last year. However, I think it uot out of place to "pass a new protest against such arguments. The very fact by which we see that the system of having separate schools for both sexes has generally prevailed amongst all nations where it could be done, and iD all ages until now, is a most convincing proof of its excellence. Your correspondent says that "we should always suspect a philosophy that does violence to Dame Nature's arrangements." But what does he think now of those Dame Nature's arrangements after what has transpired from F. Joseph's shop, and caused such a scandal in our streets only a few days ago? I am, &c, Omega.
