The Star to-night, on the authority of Captain Mating, A.D.C., contradicts a statement in a leading article in to-day's Herald, to the effect that the Governor has received a telegram from the Home Government, stating that it fully approved of his refusal to grant a dissolution of Parliament to Sir G. Grey, and that a despatch was forwarded to the same effect. The Star says the Governor has not received any telegram on the subject. The opening of the extension of the railway to Ohaupo is delayed for ten days. Michael Costello, charged with a second attempt at suicide, was discharged. The evidence showed he was of unsound mind through intemperance when he attempted to cut his throat. John Young has been apprehended, charged with receiving stolen property, consisting of 13c\vt of sugar, forming a part of the estate oC David Hamilton, who was recently arrested, charged with fraudulent bankruptcy.
